Main Characters

Ekai: A directionless teen from the Sohee village in the lowlands. He’s a gifted athlete who shows hints of great leadership. He often wonders what lies beyond the lowlands, but his curiousity can sometimes get him into trouble.

Rocar: A confident and prestigious captain of an elite force known as the Shifters. He hunts down and captures anyone who is considered a threat to the island. He uses a dangerous spiked ball for a weapon, and can hit his targets with perfect accuracy.

Oraya: An old logging camp foreman from the Lumina forest. He’s hardworking and straightforward, which can make him appear insensitive. His body is weathered, and his health is in decline. He tries to live a simple life and stay away from any island conflicts.

Soleila: A young and beautiful dancer from Solcrea. She’s intelligent and loves to read, but usually likes to keep to herself. She’s fascinated by things that are out of the ordinary.

Braulio: A hot headed Shifter who serves as Rocar’s right hand man. He’s well built and usually handles all the grunt work. He’s prejudiced towards others, especially the lowlanders.

Jovian: The teenage son of Oraya. He was raised in the forest but is eager to leave and be a part of the regular towns. He’s a big fan of the game of warball and would love to play for one of the teams.

Naveen: A history professor for the Lumina Youth Academy. She’s knowledgeable in island history and sympathizes with the native tribes. She may appear strict, but she’s fair to all her students.

Denner: An ambitious warball head coach for the Irez team. He’s willing to try different methods to strengthen his team and gain the respect of his peers.

Suneh: Oraya’s wife. A petite woman who handles the domestic duties around the logging camp. She’s usually reserved but can be sympathetic towards strangers and make wise decisions that helps the logging camp.

Renfur: An old mercenary who deals with Captain Rocar. He’s talkative and charming, but kidnaps peasants and sells them to island smugglers.

Garcos: A bully and younger brother of the Sohee gang leader. He wants to be the next leader, but his impulsiveness and bad decisions makes him a liability.
